Digital X-Rays

What is digital radiography?

Digital radiography is an advanced imaging technology that allows our dentists to get a better look at your smile. Digital X-rays use a digital sensor to take high-quality images of your teeth, jawbone, and the surrounding structures. After the X-rays are taken, they are instantly available for viewing on monitors right in our treatment room. This ensures that Drs. Sam and Melanie Huckabee are able to efficiently evaluate your oral health and recommend any dental treatments your smile needs. Using digital X-rays, we can detect several types of dental problems, including:

  • Bone loss
  • Decay between teeth
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Tumors, cysts, and abscesses
  • Impacted teeth (wisdom teeth and others)
  • Infection in the tooth nerve
  • Fracturing in existing dental fillings

We can also use digital radiography in to plan some kinds of dental treatment, including tooth extraction, wisdom teeth removal, and root canal therapy. Digital radiography utilizes up to 90% less radiation than conventional film X-rays, and the process of taking digital X-rays is significantly faster and more comfortable. We welcome you to call or visit us at Huckabee Family Dentistry today to learn more about the advantages of digital dental X-rays.
