Tooth Extractions

What is a tooth extraction?

Tooth extraction is more commonly known as pulling or removing a tooth. At Huckabee Family Dentistry, we strive to provide you with conservative dental treatment options; in certain cases, however, tooth extraction is necessary to improve your oral health. Our gentle dentists may recommend tooth extraction if a tooth is severely decayed or damaged and cannot be effectively restored. Removing the tooth can help to prevent infection and disease from spreading to other areas of the mouth. We are happy to recommend tooth replacement options both before and after the tooth extraction to ensure that your smile is restored to optimal function and health.

What is wisdom teeth removal?

Wisdom teeth removal is one of the most common types of tooth extraction. The wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last teeth to erupt in the mouth, and there is often not enough space for the wisdom teeth to grow in correctly. If the wisdom teeth do not have enough room, they may become impacted (stuck in the gums and bone), or they may grow in at an angle, affect the neighboring teeth, or lead to infection and decay. We may recommend wisdom teeth removal to avoid these complications. To learn whether your wisdom teeth should be removed, we welcome you to contact us today to set up an appointment with Drs. Sam and Melanie Huckabee.
